Our Editorial Policy

Forte Magazine is a print and online destination offering free content to readers for over 30 years. We have a commitment to deliver the highest quality of content and great stories to our growing audience across regional Victoria and wider. Our magazine works in collaboration and conjunction with advertisers and brands who both believe in our product and share our values. Their partnerships and sponsorships assist in the continuous operations of Forte Magazine.

Decisions pertaining to editorial execution are made with consideration for our valued audience whilst keeping in line with the direction of Forte’s reputable brand and vision. Traditional advertising can be noted in the form of website banners and in print advertisement, however online sponsored content can appear in less obvious forms. As such, our editorial policy includes guidelines for transparency for paid-for features and content, with a disclosure present at the footer of an article.
It is of the utmost importance to Forte Magazine that our values for editorial excellence, accuracy in information, and ethical practices are reflected in our advertising and brand partnerships. All partnerships have been consciously considered and implemented through informed decision-making, including conversations and research, to ensure that these relationships hold value to, and best represent, our readers and Forte community. Editorial Guidelines

Editorial staff employed and engaged in the production of the content for Forte Magazine across both print and digital mediums must agree to be bound by the following set of editorial guidelines.

Editors, subeditors and assistant editors agree to uphold these guidelines in the production of written, photographic, audio and video content for the purpose of informing the public in matters of civic interest, but not in instances whereby material has been produced in collaboration with a commercial partner or advertiser.

  1. A COMMITMENT TO ACCURACY
    • Editors will ensure that content produced with the aim of informing the public about matters of civic interest are accurate and not misleading. In instances of such content appearing in a digital environment, hyperlinks must be included directing readers to a minimum of one third-party source verifying the subject matter.
    • If content of civic interest is demonstrated to be inaccurate or misleading, appropriate remedial action must be taken.
  2. A COMMITMENT TO FAIRNESS
    • Editors will ensure that any content depicted as factual is fairly portrayed, and that opinionated content is formed using factual basis.
    • If content of civic interest relates adversely to an individual or organisation, fair opportunity will be given to said individual or organisation to contribute to initial or subsequent content in addressing purported inaccuracies.
  3. A COMMITMENT TO PRIVACY
    • Editors will ensure that they or their assigns will not encroach on the reasonable expectation of privacy of any individual.
  4. A COMMITMENT TO SAFETY
    • Editors will avoid publishing content likely to pose a threat to public safety, or inflict harm to an individual or organisation.
  5. A COMMITMENT TO INTEGRITY
    • Editors will avoid publishing content that has been obtained via illegal or unethical means.
  6. A COMMITMENT TO TRANSPARENCY
    • Editors will ensure that potential conflicts of interest as they may relate to content informing the public in matters of civic interest are adequately disclosed.
    • Editors will disclosure of any partnerships, partnerships and advertising arrangements for paid-features and content.

How We Use Personal Information

Members. In addition to your username, any comments or submissions that you post to the Site will be publicly available. Changing or Deleting Your Information

All members may review, update, correct or delete the Personal Information in their registration profile by logging into their account and changing the “user preferences” associated with their account. If you completely delete all such information, your account may be deactivated. We may retain an archived copy of your records as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

Complaints Handling Process

Forte Magazine editors and editorial team agree to be bound by the following complaint handling guidelines and processes for any complaints made by members of the public surrounding published content.

  1. Any complaint made about content published should be promptly acknowledged.
  2. The complaint will be measured against Forte Magazine’s Editorial Guidelines and its merit assessed.
  3. If the content is considered to be in violation of Forte Magazine’s Editorial Guidelines the content to be amended to fit within the Editorial Guidelines. If the content cannot be amended suitably then it should be removed.
  4. Complainant to be notified of the outcome and asked for further feedback.
