Pete Cerni has a lot to be excited about. The recent release of By Design, the new album from his Melbourne punk rock outfit As A Rival, has already seen them making waves on a national scale. After a long time in the making, it’s no surprise he’s pumped to showcase the new material on an upcoming tour.

Castlemaine: Tucked away in a valley, this picturesque little town 90 minutes from Melbourne has seen riches pulled straight out of the ground, fought battles for human rights, boasts the longest continually-running theatre in Australia, and was even on the short list for capital of Australia at one point (true story). And since the seventies, the seed of an arts scene was planted that has been sprouting and blossoming to become the thriving arts community that it is today.

Before turning the lens on others, Stevie first turned it on herself taking self portraits as a means to overcome her post-traumatic stress disorder. She soon found her footing as an internationally published fashion and portrait photographer, with a certain knack for capturing her subjects in their truest form.

The summer has indeed been a fabulous one in Ballarat, although some rain would be nice for our farmers. People are out and about and the recent Rockabilly Festival that came to town was a remarkable success and Ballarat had never seen so many hot-rods, quiffs, or Doc Martins since… umm… errr… around the same time last year!
