Step into a scene of serenity this month, as we welcome the inaugural Festival of Wellness to Geelong’s Waterfront. Taking over Deakin University, this two-day event comes from the team behind the Piccadilly Markets, hosting a diverse program of holistic health and healing activities, market stalls, entertainment, workshops and more. Reset your mind, make space for moving forward, and prioritise you at this feel good festival.

Our music section is bold and bright for October including high energy acts Baker Boy following his electrifying AFL Grand Final pre-show entertainment set, groove-laden global rulers The Cat Empire, alt rock relics Everclear, and Australia’s biggest stage presence Tim Rogers for Beat’n Tracks. We also chat to Charm of Finches ahead of Laurel Canyon celebratory concert, Songs From The Canyon, and Mo’Ju for their powerful MSO collaborative, Double J presented Live At The Wireless album.

Stepping into the Local’s Lounge this month is Bendigo’s baddest band, Relays who are ready to take over the world with their fire-starting brand of punk. We stay in Bendigo for a street-based In The Studio with Chris Duffy Ha Ho Art. His vibrant pop-art murals decorate the laneways and facades of Bendigo township and make up the city’s art walking tour. That’s a must-see in our Travel Guide this month as Bendigo is in bloom for the annual flower festival. Your guide to the best stays, eats, shopping and scenery is inside!

Featured in food this month we look at Baie Wines and their excellence in a bottle, highlight the food journey of Woolshed Restaurant and The Retreat Head Chef, Eli Grubb, and take you on a ride with our Venue Spotlight. Climb aboard the award-winning destination dining experience The Q Train, hop across to Colac’s The Bar, indulge at Nicol’s Paddock, and take a break at Geelong Botanical Garden’s coffee house, WYM.

Another special treat for readers is our exploration of academic-led National Wool Museum exhibition, Quilt, Wool, Use. We unpick the stitches to find out the fabric foundations of the ‘wagga’, and lean into the once essential items’ modern reimagining.

Issue 769 is overflowing with inspired content. Start your journey to wellness by sitting down and relaxing with Forte Magazine.
