Hello Autumn!

As the final remnants of summer linger past their expiry, the state continues its tourism appeal.

Bellarine Estate are making the most of the later nights and glorious weather by firing up the barbecue. Their inaugural meat-lovers festival, AWM Bellarine Smoke-Off is about to take over their vineyard for a day of grilling competitions, great drinks, and even more appetising live music. We caught up with Reece Mastin who joins the debut estate event to chat meat and his foray into the world of metal.

Sticking with the Australian heavy landscape, The Amity Affliction’s Joel Birch discusses the band’s massive regional tour, their new album, and being sea bound. Not far from the ocean currents, Palace Foreshore has a stacked program of live music events happening this month including a headline set with our feature artist Peach PRC. Finally we turn back the clock with Shepparton-starters Augie March. It’s the perfect spot to take you on in our travel guide, and be sure to check out our In The Studio with rising art figure Ruby Wyatt-Carter.

Also in art this month, we head to two major events with the Lost Trades Fair at Hanging Rock, and into Clunes Booktown Festival, honouring the predigital age items and practices.

Returning to Geelong, enter the stories of our local legends at Geelong Sports Museum, and in our Food features, including our Chef’s Corner with Q Train, Woolstore Restaurant spotlight and Grovedale Hotel highlight.

It’s another big month that is as juicy as the brisket on offer at the AWM Bellarine Smoke-Off!

Get cooking!
