Leaves of gold, orange, red, and brown tumble to the ground, and the sticky sweet aromas of pie drift through the air; this is Autumn in regional Victoria.
No one does it better than Macedon Ranges, so much so that they have a month-long festival celebrating the season. Macedon Ranges Autumn Festival invites visitors to celebrate the everyday beauties of the nine villages in the region, tasting the treats from local hospitality venues, trailing the natural landscapes of the surroundings, and sharing the secrets of their magical community. It’s our fairytale-worthy cover story this month.
Another hospitality hop this month is Heathcote’s Stars & Bars, with a loyal lineup of locales and live music makers including Geelong psych-sledges O.R.B. In music we also chat to UK powerhouse rockers Wolf Alice, one of Australia’s biggest voices Katy Steele, and go back to back with the brightest in blues, Eric Bibb, and Jesse Valach.
In food, we’ve introduced a new Market Guide, helping you to plan your produce purchases, and we dive into the kitchen at The Dill Restaurant for Chefs Corner.
As always, our Travel Guide, In The Studio, and Locals Lounge spotlight the best bits of one regional Victorian town – this time it’s Warrnambool, with Jimmi Buscombe and Flynn Gurry generously taking us into their crafts. Also in Lifestyle, we look at the digs of Newtown’s newest health hotspot, Klae Wellness.
Grab a coffee and a slice of pie, and dig into some heartwarming stories across the next 44 pages.
