Mister Co. Unleash ‘Monsters’ and Set the Stage for Melbourne’s Homegrown Festival

Mister Co. Frankenstein Melbourne's music scene for their latest single.

In the heart of Naarm/Melbourne’s ever-pulsing music scene, Mister Co. return with ‘Monsters’, a single that feels like sunlight caught in a storm. Featuring the shimmering voices of Tahlia Eve and Mason Jay, the track rides a wave of Fleetwood Mac-inspired pop-rock, where warm, resonant guitars entwine with a driving rhythm and layered vocals that linger like echoes in a late-night laneway. It’s both familiar and exhilarating, a song that nods to the past while firmly planting its feet in the present.

‘Monsters’ was born in a moment of quiet observation amid a world growing numb to chaos and violence. Mister Co. describe it as a reflection on fear, empathy, and the courage to choose compassion when the world feels unstable—a meditation delivered not with heaviness, but with a stirring sense of hope. The track is a gentle yet insistent reminder that music can be a conduit for reflection, connection, and resilience.

Speaking about the track, Mister Co. say, “We started writing this song during a time where it felt like people were becoming numb to the chaos and violence happening around the world. What struck us was how quickly moments like that disappear from conversation.

The song became a reflection on how fear can shape people, and how easy it is to lose empathy when things feel unstable. At its core, ‘Monsters’ is about pushing back against that and choosing compassion, even when it’s difficult.”

This single is the latest offering from Mister Co.’s upcoming EP, the second in a series designed to showcase Melbourne’s emerging talent. Each collaboration is a deliberate act of community building, a spotlight on the voices and sounds shaping the city’s independent music landscape. Mister Co. are not just creating music—they are curating experiences, weaving networks, and nurturing a thriving creative ecosystem.

Later this year, the collective’s vision for Melbourne’s music scene reaches its next crescendo with the Homegrown Festival, returning for its second edition at Bourke Street Courtyard on 21 November, 2026. Imagine a sprawling, 1,200-capacity courtyard alive with the hum of anticipation, where 26 artists across three stages deliver twelve hours of live music. The festival immerses audiences in a meticulously produced world of light, pyro, and CO₂, each element designed to elevate the artist experience while igniting the crowd. It’s a festival that feels intimate and expansive all at once, a space where the city’s independent music culture is both celebrated and amplified. Last years festival took to the Corner Hotel with a stellar lineup of local talent, celebrating the community of our creative arts scene.

As the festival returns it’s important to note that Homegrown is more than a festival—it’s a statement and a community where locals sit at the forefront. It’s Melbourne artists supporting Melbourne artists, a testament to collaboration, risk-taking, and creative ambition. This is Mister Co. creating space for our homegrown artists to shine.

Speaking of shining, it’s time to give that single a listen.
