In The Whisky List’s 28th virtual tasting of 2025, the whisky spotlight will be on the Bellarine Distillery range, diving into six of their finest bottles.

The session will be hosted by The Whisky List’s whisky expert Emma Cookson, with Bellarine Distillery’s cofounder, Russell Watson, and head distiller, Craig Michael, joining the session to delve into the palette, blend and distilling process of each whisky.

Participants for the limited spot session will get to sample six whiskies in the Bellarine Distillery range as handpicked by Watson and Michael including a first-ever preview of their bold new release: Bellarine Tawny Frogmouth. Aging for 4 years in 5 x 100 litre refill wine and fortified wine barrels, currently finishing (10 months) in 1st fill Tawny Puncheon and sitting at 55% ABV, the Bellarine Tawny Frogmouth is a highly anticipated release for the distillers, with participants of the Virtual Whisky Tasting getting to try it first.

The five fellow tasting samples are a showcase of the dynamic range of whiskies on offer. Dive into their flagship range with a red wine matured (Refill Pinot Noir) bourbon finish blend Oak Batch 3 (52%), the rare release single cask bourbon matured whisky Black Sheep (50%), the newest rare release Aquila Audax which is matured in Oloroso and finished in bourbon (50%), and two sold out runs of Oak Batch 2 (52%) (ideal as a comparison to the Oak Batch 3), and Best Australian Single Malt Whisky winner of the Distilled Spirits Awards, Kestrel Rare Release (50%).

This selection is a chance to be taken deep into the Bellarine Peninsula’s producer cellar. Being the first legal distillery in the area between the 1980’s and their 2015 establishment, Bellarine Distillery has made a name for themselves in the spirits world. Their award-winning Teddy and the Fox gin has become a favourite on many shelves across the country, and their small-batch single malt whiskies have earnt a loyal following. Not to mention, their home on the Bellarine has become a haven for hospitality and a favourite stop for tourists heading between Portarlington and Geelong.

Participants will hear stories about the region, the distilleries history, and dive into the process of each pour as guided by Watson, Michael and Cookson.

This session is a rare chance to experience Bellarine Distillery’s The Whiskery tastings from afar for those outside of the Bellarine, as well as an exciting opportunity for loyal customers of Bellarine Distillery to get a taste of the rare products before the rest of the world.

The sessions are limited in spots and at an absolute steal at $59 for the 6 x 15 ml samples as delivered to your doorstep with express shipping.
