First Friday’s and Comedy at the Club come to East Geelong Golf Club

From Friday sessions to funny specials, East Geelong Golf Club is teeing up a big summer of programming.

East Geelong Golf Club is giving their members and the Geelong community even more than a green.

Their social calendar is starting to fill up moving into the sunnier seasons, starting with their monthly First Friday’s and bringing in the laughs with a one-off laughter launch of Comedy at the Club.

Starting at the top of the month, First Friday’s sees the introduction of a gathering at the golf course. The casual event sees the sun-soaked outdoor setting transformed with live music, burgers and tacos provided by Mercy Café, cocktails by The Tiny Traveller mobile cocktail bar, and an assortment of kids activities spread across the lawn area. These monthly sessions are held the first Friday of the month, as the name suggests, until March, the first having taken place last week to signal in October.

In a special offering for their regular crowd and luring in a new audience to their central golf course, East Geelong Golf Club will be hosting Comedy at the Club, a special one night of giggles. Taking place on Sunday 19 October from 5.30pm, the club will welcome in Dave Thornton.

Thornton has built a reputation for being one of the best live stand-up comedians in the country. The comic, actor, and television and radio presenter has garnered a massive following thanks to his unabashed completely relatable stand-up stories. From his smash-hit Edinburgh set to comedy special Don’t Ask, the comedy lad has become a bit of a legend. His 2024 show Nothing’s Unpossible has been on tour throughout this year to rave review.

His show at East Geelong Golf Club will be nothing short of hilarious, particularly as he is joined by Anna Perry, and local comedy character Jeremy Dooley as MC.
