Parenting Neurodivergent Kids: An Inclusive Conversation brings together expert insight and lived experience to explore the unique challenges, joys, and strengths of raising children on the neurodiverse spectrum. For many families, navigating a different path in parenting can feel isolating, with uncertainty about whether they are making the right choices and few opportunities to connect with others walking the same journey.

Anther Geelong Distillery has curated a panel of experts and storytellers to share their knowledge and experiences. Chris Varney, Founder and Chief Enabling Officer of the I CAN Network and proudly autistic. Chris created Australia’s largest autistic-led and staffed organisations which provides expert support and education to students and schools. Joining the panel is Gemma Bird, Occupational Therapist from WHR Allied Health, working in the field to support families as they navigate their neurodiverse journey through practical, compassionate, and evidence-based care. Gemma Bird is also now moving into a role with Department of Education. The third and final expert panelist is Dani Spencer, M Ed (Learning Disability) M Psych (Education & Developmental), Psychologist and Educator, previous Director of Inclusive Learning at Geelong Grammar, who specialises in supporting young people facing difficulties in learning, executive function, friendships, and emotional regulation. Dani is focused on the integration of Allied Health and schools, including essential engagement from schools into the process to create an environment where young people can flourish. Their expert insights will form the foundations of the event.
The evening’s discussions will encompass Autism levels 1 and 2 (ASD 1 and ASD 2), ADHD, and AuDHD, acknowledging the co-occurrence of multiple neurotypes. Lived-experience presentations from parents and students provide a vital, personal perspective, creating a safe and affirming space for sharing and support.

Their lively events program is fuelled by community and connection, from woman’s empowerment to their sold-out International Woman’s Day, Women in History Celtic Edition.
Tonight, Friday 27 March, the venue also welcomes Irish singer/songwriter Grainne Hunt, performing a one night only concert as part of her Australian tour. Grainne was a highlight at last year’s festival program at National Celtic Folk Festival and has an incredibly strong reputation as a live performer and songwriter. She will be joined by San Diego’s Jules Stewart on drums and vocals.
