After closing its doors for a few months, Mace Williams and Catherine Fletcher relocated from Melbourne to give the much-loved Castlemaine pub a new lease of life. Well known for its live music on offer, the duo have continued to book gigs throughout the week, but with a new slick of paint, a new bar and a few additional elements, the Bridge has been taken to a new level.

From the moment that Seth Sentry dropped The Waiter Minute EP back in 2008, there was never any doubt that he would rise to the forefront of the Australian hip hop Scene. Over the past eight years Sentry has released two full length albums, both to critical acclaim, and toured extensively, even breaking the record for the largest ever rap/hip-hop tour in Australia with a whopping 50 national tour that was played out last year.

On Sunday evening in May 1990 before another week of work began, Spiderbait played their first gig at the Tote alongside the Throwaways and Effect. The next 100 gigs saw the band, made up of drummer/vocalist Mark “Kram” Maher, bass player and co-singer Janet English and guitarist Damien Whitty, play more than 20 gigs at The Tote and have their first gig with soon-to-be lifelong friends, the Meanies, in June of 1991.

What do over half a million people worldwide have in common? They have all been scared senseless by the theatrical spectacle ‘Ghost Stories’. The show which was written by childhood best friends Jeremy Dyson (The League of Gentlemen) and Andy Nyman (Star of ‘Death at a Funeral’) first showed in late 2010 and broke every box office record at the Liverpool Playhouse before moving to the West End for a successful 13 month run. It has since received rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

In the last couple of weeks, the news has come to light that another of Melbourne’s most beloved music venues, Shebeen has been forced to close due to noise complaints from a neighbouring property. Sure, the property backs onto the sleeping quarters of the Melbourne Police Station, however noise complaints and residential encroachment keeps popping up as a high priority issue throughout big and small venues in metropolitan and regional Victoria.

Blues, funk and soul reign supreme on the Justin Yap Band’s newest album, Let Love. In the years since the band’s 2013 debut, Long Way From Home, the lineup has gone through numerous changes. Yap remains on lead guitar, while keyboardist Ollie Wolfe, bass player Ben Wicks and vocalist Nardia Brancatisano complete the current incarnation. Solidifying this lineup has allowed Yap to progress beyond the project’s previous release.
