Jules Verne, the man who penned Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Around the World in Eight Days, is also responsible for Journey to the Center of the Earth, which tells the story of the Baltimore Gun Club, a post-American Civil War band of weapons enthusiasts and their attempt to build a rocket to launch three people to the moon.

Local photographers Jack Griffiths and Natalie Evans have paired up to deliver their exhibition Traces. As they so aptly put it: “We leave traces of ourselves in the warmth left in our bed in the morning, in the litter we throw away, in the structures we place in our environment. Human intervention is widespread, and it is often difficult to find a space in which we have not left traces of ourselves.” Opening night is Wednesday September 23.

The punk rock of Infernal Bliss is gonna eat you alive at The Karova, Ballarat on September 19. Formed in 2013, the band has been hard at it on their debut EP which they now wish to share with you. They’ll be joined by a few friends on the night, with Agent 37 warming things up from 9 p.m. The Shorts and Avora will follow before the blissful punk rockers hit the stage a touch after 11 p.m.
