Great Ocean Ducks deliver delicacy to the region

If you've ordered duck in Geelong, it's likely from this ocean view supplier.

There’s a reason why duck is a feature on most high-end and fine dining restaurants’ menus. The high-protein, nutrient-rich food is often considered a delicacy thanks to its rich, flavourful, slightly gamey taste and moist profile. It’s also an extremely versatile protein that allows for creativity from the chef.

Locally, our country’s biggest hospitality houses including Brae, Royal Mail Hotel Dunkeld, Anchovy and Grossi Florentino trust a local supplier, Great Ocean Ducks, for their farm free-range product.

Paying homage to their Twelves Apostles and Great Ocean Road locations, Great Ocean Ducks is the work of Greg and Jodi Clarke. The launched the farm in 2009 with 30 Aylesbury ducklings, selected for their historical connections. In 2012, they introduced Pekins to the mix, feeding them all strawberries and other fruits. It feeds into the business’ ethos of nurturing ethically raised, consistently high quality, low environmental impact produce from paddock to plate.

They discuss their farming adventures in their 2015 book Just Duck which also features recipes from acclaimed chefs. In 2016, Great Ocean Duck had their first consignment of ducks exported to Hong Kong where they continue to hold a stake in the country’s supply of ducks.

Great Ocean Ducks are the benchmark of poultry producing in the region and Australia.
