Leega Korean BBQ is a sizzling good time

Leega Korean BBQ has become a legendary dinner spot in the heart of Geelong where sizzling meats are served with a sensory experience.

Having joined Geelong’s hospitality list in 2017, the Gheringhap Street location will transport you to the harmonious shared dining destination of Korea with its unique and authentic offering. Leega Korean BBQ is designed to be dramatic – a theatrical tasting tour of East Asian cuisine – with a charcoal grill and extractor fan as the centrepiece to each table setting. The best part is that you are the master of your meat – or vegetarian – staple.

So how does this hands-on dining experience work? Well select your base meat – a choice of BBQ beef, pork, duck and/or chicken cuts, or even ox, for a communal cook on the charcoal grill. You can go with individual BBQ meats, or go for the BBQ set for a curated meat experience tailored to two. From there, select your paired sharing dishes. The meats are then sizzled on the spot in front of you, where you can absorb the aromas from up close and watch the flames flicker as they char your meat.

You are the curator of your plate with the shared sides and boy do you have a well-rounded selection. Keeping in line with the Korean traditions, test out the delectable Korean pancakes (not your maple syrup stack but a savoury dish), steamed rice with a variety of vegetables, egg and Korean chilli paste and your choice of protein, better known as Bibimbap (available as either standard or stonepot servings), or give Japchae a whirl – a tantalising stir-friend sweet potato noodles with beef and vegetables in soy sauce. You also have vegetarian fried dumplings, cross cut ribs, and a spicy spring onion salad on the menu. If you’re not keen on the BBQ base for your dinner, they also have Korean fried chicken, noodles, soups and salads.

The space is ideal for a wow factor date, along with lively group dining, where food becomes part of the activity. Add to the experience with the Tower of Asahi draft beer, 3L of the crisp Japanese beer on tap, go for a cocktail or wine, or get spirited with Makgeolli, Soju, and more.

Leega Korean BBQ is so much more than a food outing – it’s an immersive sensory experience where sizzling meats are the star.
