On Saturday 27 June, ALWAYS LIVE brought their rolling live music train Victorian Vibes into Geelong for the regional tour’s send-off.
The day started with local songstress Holly Droomer set up in the Little Malop Street/Malop Street thoroughfare. Armed with a guitar and honeysuckle voice, Droomer serenaded a growing crowd with her original tracks. As a rising star in the Geelong region, Droomer has a strong fanbase already, and stood up incredibly well alongside the fellow Victorian Vibes artists.

A short stroll to the infamous upside down building (Department of Families, Fairness and Housing) in the cultural precinct of Geelong, the entrance square doubled as a stage for Tyne James-Organ. Having first gained national attention in 2017, which skyrocketed in 2021 thanks to his debut studio album, Necessary Evil, Organ has become a staple in the Australian music scene. His set was not only a showcase of his celebrated catalogue, but also an intimate moment to capture an artist at his most formed.
Descending down to Geelong Waterfront via Gheringhap Street, the brand new landmark building of Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre welcomed Melbourne pop-trio Telenova for a dreamy afternoon set overlooking the waterfront skatepark and Cunningham Pier. No stranger to the local crowds having played Torquay Hotel multiple times, Telenova brought their serotonin-boosting soundscapes to Geelong.
The final set was one of spectacular proportions. Town Hall’s side steps into Johnstone Park popped up Perth indie darlings Ball Park Music. As one of the most beloved acts in Australia, Ball Park Music went sit down and intimate for their set. A sea of thousands gathered for the occasion, swaying to their biggest hits. It started with the delightfully romantic ‘Exactly How You Are’, moving through to ‘Overwhelming Sound’, the dizzying ‘The End Times’, ‘Beautiful Blueberries’, ‘Fishing Like’, ‘Love Cherub’, the new anthem ‘Please Don’t Move to Melbourne’, and finished on a glorious singalong that summed up the whole day for ‘It’s Nice to Be Alive’.
ALWAYS LIVE proved with Victorian Vibes that music made accessible not only to regional audiences but for free will always draw in a crowd. The sun turned up for the grand final, and so did Geelong audiences!
