There’s a pop-up wine bar happening at an inner suburb café this weekend

Your Newtown neighbourhood hangout just got cooler!

If you’re on the lookout for something a little more exciting than your usual weekend plans, mark your calendars because something special is coming to Newfolk Café on Skene Street. Over two weekends, this beloved inner-suburb gem is teaming up with Geelong West’s own Winepress Wines for an unforgettable pop-up wine bar experience.

Taking place on Saturday 21, Sunday 22, Saturday 28 February, and Sunday 1 March from 2pm to 8pm, the Newfolk x Winepress Pop-up Bar will serve up great wines by the glass (and bottle), tasty snacks, and the perfect playlist to set the mood. Whether you’re winding down after a day at the beach, heading out for an early dinner, or just enjoying a cheeky “one more” with friends, this event has all the makings of a relaxed and social afternoon or evening.

What’s the vibe, you ask? Think laid-back sophistication, where you can drop in for a quick glass or stay for the afternoon as you sip and snack to the beat of good tunes. It’s the perfect chance to unwind and enjoy a curated selection of wines, expertly chosen by Winepress Wines, one of Geelong’s top spots for all things vinous. Run by wine connoisseur Nick Veanes, Winepress brings an unmatched knowledge of the pour space, ensuring only the best wines make it to your glass.

In addition to the wines, there will be a selection of tasty snacks to pair with your drink, making it even easier to linger and enjoy the moment.

With Newfolk under fresh management since October 2025, the café has quickly become a vibrant fixture on the Skene Street strip, and this pop-up promises to be the perfect addition to their growing reputation for offering something a little different.

So grab a friend (or three), save the dates, and come enjoy some expertly poured wine in one of Geelong’s coolest café spaces. For Newtown locals, it’s a nice chance to duck down the road for a drink and walk home!

Walk-ins are welcome, but you can also secure a spot by booking through Sam at Newfolk Café, either via DM or email. There will be two sittings per day at 2/2:30pm and 5/5:30pm, so you can plan accordingly.
