November comes in with mainstay festivals across the state

Festival season is in full swing with musicians and artists running amuck around the stage and the state!

Ah what a time to be alive where a month is littered with live music every weekend. International names, major Australia acts and the up-and-coming acts are forced into a room together for the same cause – the entertain!

This month, the calendar is chockers with award-winning, township and venue takeovers on the music front. Here are some of the best festivals going down in Victoria across November.

GET FOLK’D

WHEN: SAT 8 NOV

WHERE: PERRICOOTA STATION, MOAMA

Kim Churchill leads this Murray River township event. Dedicated to the new age era of modern folk and songwriting, Get Folk’d focuses on the future of the genre. Alongside Churchill, the festival brings in JC and the Tree from Queensland as well as Jack Raymond. From across the border, Saije is making their way down, and representing Victoria you have Tom Harrington Music, Kane Vincent, and The Wildlings.

RIVER ROCKS FESTIVAL 

WHEN: SAT 15 NOV

WHERE; BARWON CLUB HOTEL, GEELONG

Get ready to have your face melted off from the hot haul for this year’s River Rocks. The annual festival of heavy music makes its return to the home of rock ‘n’ roll in Geelong, for a day and a hangover. River Rocks brings out Magic Dirt, Zeke, Asteroid B-612, Legends of Motorsport, Jenny Don’t and the Spurs, The Fadeaways, Slander Tongue, and a bunch more, while River Rocks Rehab returns the next day headlined by Beastwars.

TOWN FOLK FESTIVAL

WHEN: SAT 15 NOV

WHERE: CASTLEMAINE TOWNSHIP

The goldfields region will be rich with golden acts this month as Town Folk Festival takes over Castlemaine. The annual music festival will this year feature performances from Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory, Meg Washington, Charm of Finches, Dan Kelly’s Regional Crisis, Didirri & Rowena Wise, Jenny Don’t & The Spurs, WITCH, Sylvie, and more. The beloved festival is bound to be blissful!

STRAWBERRY FIELDS

WHEN: 21 – 23 NOV

WHERE: TOCUMWAL NEW SOUTH WALES

Your festival of music, art, adventure and community is coming back into the Wildlands of New South Wales. On the DJ decks, you have Afrodisiac, Isabella, Sweetie Zamora, Interplanetary Criminal and so many more, while the live lineup boasts Bumpy, WITCH, DRMNGNOW, Ella Thompson and more. Get wild in the Wildlands, refresh at The Beach, dive into Deep Jungle and get groovy at The Grove – there’s a space for everyone in this immersive festival setting.

QUEENSCLIFF MUSIC FESTIVAL

WHEN: 28 – 30 NOV

WHERE: BOROUGH OF QUEENSCLIFF

Staple to the Australian music festival calendar, Queenscliff Music Festival charges back into town, transforming the Borough of Queenscliff across three days. With music at the forefront, their live lineup is brimming with stardust. The bill brags names like The Cat Empire, The Preatures, Little Birdy, Cosmic Psychos, Ella Hooper, The Waifs, Thelma Plum, King Stingray, amongst others. For the kids, Peter Combe and Teenie Tiny Stevies lead the charge.

LIVE AT THE GARDENS – MIAMI HORROR

WHEN: SAT 29 NOV

WHERE: ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS MELBOURNE

In a month of Live At The Gardens programming which sees RocKwiz, The Living End, Franz Ferdinand, and Songs From The Canyon holding concerts, the Miami Horror event is huge. A triple headline, helmed by the return of homegrown talent Miami Horror and uplifted by Sneaky Sound System and Bag Raiders, this is an electronic dance dynasty. All are performing live sets, with the added bonus of Aroha and Joey Lightbulb on decks.
