Originally released on 24 July 2001 via DreamWorks Records, Bleed American became a defining moment for alternative rock, helping propel Jimmy Eat World into global recognition and shaping the sound of the early 2000s. Featuring enduring anthems including ‘The Middle’, ‘Sweetness’, ‘A Praise Chorus’ and the explosive title track ‘Bleed American’, the album remains a beloved classic more than two decades later.
For Jimmy Eat World, the anniversary tour is an opportunity to celebrate the connection between the band, the album and the fans who have carried these songs across generations.
“When we printed the last mix of Bleed American, we felt like we had achieved something great for ourselves,” says frontman Jim Adkins. “There was no barometer of how it would connect with people outside of the studio, and we are still in awe with the life the record and songs have had since their original release. Bleed American is as much yours as it is ours, so we want to celebrate it with you all in a very special way.”
Drummer Zach Lind and the band approach the anniversary performances with a renewed sense of gratitude, reflecting on the journey that began in 2001 and the fans who have supported Jimmy Eat World for the past 25 years.
Adkins adds: “This tour is designed to be an elevated version of our show, a heightened experience with production that reflects 25 years of learning how to stretch artistically in the live environment.”
A record that helped define an era, Bleed American has continued to inspire generations of artists, with acts including Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday and The Wonder Years citing the album as a major influence. The record’s most iconic single, ‘The Middle’, recently joined Spotify’s Billion Streams Club, cementing its status as one of the most recognisable alternative rock songs of the 21st century.
More than just a commercial breakthrough, Bleed American captured Jimmy Eat World at their creative peak — blending soaring melodies, emotional honesty and instantly memorable hooks. Twenty-five years on, its impact can still be heard throughout modern alternative, pop-rock and emo scenes.
Since forming in Mesa, Arizona, Jimmy Eat World have become one of the most enduring and influential bands of their generation, performing at some of the world’s biggest festivals including When We Were Young, Lollapalooza, Coachella, Reading and Leeds and continuing to release new music that proves their songwriting remains as powerful as ever.
Their 2025 EP Something(s) Loud further showcased the band’s ability to evolve while staying true to the emotional storytelling and melodic brilliance that first won fans around the world.
Don’t miss your chance to celebrate 25 years of one of alternative rock’s most important albums as Jimmy Eat World bring Bleed American to life one final time in Australia.
