Free live music initiative ALWAYS LIVE is about to make a major comeback this autumn with the launch of Victorian Vibes. Victorian Vibes is a major new series of free, pop-up live music performances set to wow Victoria’s regional towns from April.

Kicking things off in the golden part of the state in Ballarat on Saturday 18 April, the series will travel through Gippsland, Goldfields, the Bellarine, the Murray, and the Great Ocean Road regions, activating a new town every second weekend through to late June.

Victorian Vibes extends on the roll out of the initial Melbourne Vibes series. The run saw the likes of Jimmy Barnes, The Teskey Brothers, Guy Sebastian, Mallrat and Adalita light up streets and laneways across the CBD last summer. Victorian Vibes will take the same spontaneous, high-calibre energy on the road, landing in regional communities across the state throughout Victoria’s picturesque autumn and winter months.

Of the initiative Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos says “Victorian Vibes brings free live music to communities right across our state – making sure more Victorians can enjoy great live music, closer to home.”

“It supports local businesses, creates jobs and gives people more reasons to visit regional Victoria.”

ALWAYS LIVE CEO Psyche Payne offers, “ALWAYS LIVE has always been about creating unique and unforgettable live music moments, with Victorian Vibes a natural extension of that – taking the energy of our recent Melbourne Vibes series, and bringing it to communities around our state. It’s about connecting artists, audiences and local places in exciting ways that feel immediate, accessible and uniquely Victorian.”

Each stop will see a mix of contemporary music artists performing pop-up sets in unexpected locations throughout each town, creating a trail of live music that invites audiences to explore and immerse themselves in the unique retail, hospitality and accommodation offerings of each destination as they move between performances.

True to its pop-up spirit, artists and locations will be revealed in the lead-up to each event via ALWAYS LIVE’s digital channels and registration database to encourage forward planning, whilst retaining the excitement of discovery. Only those registered to the event series – or those lucky enough to be in the right place, at the right time – will find out the exact locations of each performance.

Punters are encouraged to explore the state as part of Victorian Vibes, with V/Line travel free for the month of April and capped over weekends on-going, and additional public transport options also available. While the V/Line doesn’t head as far as the Bellarine or Great Ocean Road, Geelong’s line has an extensive bus connection out to each location.

Supported by the Victorian Government through Visit Victoria, Victorian Vibes forms part of ALWAYS LIVE’s broader mission to strengthen Victoria’s music ecosystem and deliver live music experiences that reflect the full identity of the state, reinforcing its position as Australia’s live music capital.

Further announcements including artists, locations and event details will be revealed via ALWAYS LIVE’s official channels. Or watch this space.
