Jimmy Barnes Fires Up Mt Duneed Estate in a Star-Studded Night of Aussie Icons — Rain, Revelry and Pure Rock ‘n’ Roll

Barnes is backed by bandmates and friends in his 40 year celebration.

There’s something magic about a gig at Mt Duneed Estate. Maybe it’s the sprawling vineyard backdrop, maybe it’s the natural amphitheatre, or maybe it’s just the way thousands of voices seem to rise into the sky all at once. Whatever it is, it was fully alive on Saturday 22 November when Jimmy Barnes headlined a massive night of Australian legends—joined by Kate Ceberano, Ian Moss and Icehouse—for one of the biggest feel-good shows the region has seen all year.

Kate Ceberano: Soul, Spark & Sunset Glow

As the estate filled and the late-afternoon warmth settled in, Kate Ceberano took to the stage with that unmistakable charisma that’s kept her at the forefront of Australian music for decades. Her set floated between soulful grooves, silky vocal runs and moments of pure, joyful energy. It was the perfect opener—smooth, uplifting and soaked in golden-hour light.

Ian Moss: A Masterclass in Musicianship

Next up, Ian Moss delivered the kind of performance that reminds you why he’s held in such high regard. His guitar work was immaculate—clean, emotive and effortless—while his vocals carried that familiar, tender grit. Fans swayed, sang and locked into every note. Mossy didn’t just warm up the stage—he elevated the whole mood of the night.

Icehouse: Synth Nostalgia & Crowd-Raising Anthems

As dusk slid into night, Icehouse hit with a full palette of nostalgia. ‘Electric Blue’, ‘Great Southern Land’, and ‘Crazy’ rang out across the estate, sending waves of energy through the crowd. Their production, stacked harmonies and glowing stage lighting kicked the atmosphere into festival mode, setting up the perfect runway for the legend himself.

The Rain Arrives… and So Does Barnesy

Just as Jimmy Barnes stepped out, a soft drizzle rolled in—one of those light, misty rains that cools the air without dampening a single spirit. Ponchos appeared, jackets went up, and the crowd only got louder. If anything, the weather gave the moment even more grit and theatre.

Then came the roar.

Barnesy tore through hit after hit, backed by a band firing on all cylinders and a crowd that practically served as a second PA system. ‘Working Class Man’, ‘Flame Trees’, ‘No Second Prize’, ‘Driving Wheels’—every chorus was belted back at him in full force. His trademark scream carried across the vineyard like a lightning bolt, slicing clean through the rain as the ground shook under thousands of stomping feet.

Between songs, he was cheeky, heartfelt and as sharp as ever—sharing stories, firing off quips and keeping the energy sky-high.

A Night to Remember at Mt Duneed

By the time the final notes faded, Mt Duneed felt like it had hosted something truly special: a full-scale celebration of Australian music, delivered by some of the country’s most iconic artists. Rain or not, the crowd left buzzing, muddy-booted and grinning from ear to ear.

A perfect night of legends under a very Geelong sky.
