Resident Beavs Bar serenader to play his final song

There will be no more 'Wonderwall' or 'Summer of '69' from the crowd favourite player.

Local musician Jeffrey Jordan has announced the end of an era as the resident cover artist of Lt Malop Street live music hotspot Beavs Bar.

Taking to Instagram, the singer/songwriter has announced a final two shows at the institute this weekend, playing Friday 29 August and Saturday 30 August from 9.30pm.

Final Shows

When: Friday 29 August & Saturday 30 August

The farewell comes after 12 years of dedication to the corner stage in the lounge, encouraging singalongs for acoustic versions of classic hits like ‘Jessie’s Girl’ by Rick Springfield, ‘Mr. Brightside’ of The Killers fame, ‘Valerie’ from the Goo Goo Dolls, and of course renditions of Wheatus’ ‘Teenage Dirtbag’.

Jordan is a favourite amongst locals, adding cheeky comments between songs and sparkling with infectious stage presence and charisma. As a major player in the fabric of Geelong’s music tapestry, Jordan’s will be missed every weekend.

In his retirement from Beavs Bar post, the musician says, “12 years, countless beers to countless 7/11 coffees to countless pineapple red bulls, and one last goodbye… Well here is it… After 12 wild , wonderful, and whiskey-soared years playing at Beavs Bar, I’m playing my last ever two shows.”

It continues “Two final gigs. One old stage. A thousand memories. Beavs has been more than just a gig. It’s been my second home, my family, my therapy session, my best friend, and occasionally my footy game spot (thank you big ol’ projector). I’ve had the honour of playing to familiar faces, singing the classics, and watching the crowd change but the love stay the same. ”

“It’s bittersweet, but I’m stepping off the Beavs stage to make room for something new and I’d love nothing more than to share these last two nights with the people who’ve supported me from the first chord to the final chorus.”

Jordan has been a mainstay to the Geelong live music scene as more than just a cover artist, writing a producing music under several different monikers. The move comes with a name change to Jordan Frank, hopefully signalling the new era of original tunes.

Outside of Beavs, Jordan has further booked weddings, parties and local festivals which he acknowledges in the send off post.

“To everyone who’s ever come to a show, played up with me on stage, shouted a request, kicked the mic into my face, booked me for their wedding, sung along, bought me a beer, bought me a red bull or even just clapped at the end – from the bottom of my heart I truly say thank you. My heart goes out to Richard for Beavs Bar alongside the staff and managers to the bouncers for everything, you all changed my life. Most importantly thank you to Jesus my saviour for bringing me this special place into my life and allow me to share my voice to thousands.”

“You the people and the Barbie dolls kept me coming back every week. I’ve poured my heart into every note on that stage and now it’s time for one last hurrah. Let’s finish this properly.”

Get down to Beavs Bar this weekend to celebrate a mammoth innings and colourful career of a local legend!

Thank you for the music Jeffrey Jordan Frank!
