Aussie guitarist and songwriter Darren Middleton today delivers yet another thumping track with the release of ‘Some People’, the second offering from his forthcoming studio album TIDES out September 21 via Ditto.
The latest single, which premiered on Triple M’s Homegrown, features the gorgeous guest vocals of Kelly Lane (Skipping Girl Vinegar) echoing over the top of a rolling backline and lashing beat.
Darren says the single explores the idea “trying to find yourself in today’s world of immersion and over sharing. It talks about how precarious it can be to open yourself up, for people to dissect, so you keep a little of yourself for safekeeping”
The clip, featuring Middleton & Lane, was created by Melbourne-based director Nathan Dalton: “Being a fan of Darren’s music since the early Powderfinger days, it was a dream come true collaborating with him on this music video. The lyrics to Some People talk of how people change over time, but rather than the visuals reflecting this, we chose to tell an abstract story of Darren navigating through various worlds, singing and playing while he searches for a mystical woman.
The music video was shot with the support of Fujifilm over two and half days, predominantly in the Warburton area and our studio at Oh Yeah Wow in Brunswick.”
